 Today‘s English Version

      I may be able to speak the languages of human beings and

      even of angels, but if I have no love, my speech is no more

      than a noisy gong or a clanging bell. I may have the gift of

      inspired preaching; I may have all knowledge and understand

      all secrets; I may have all the faith needed to move

      mountains-but if I have no love, I am nothing. I may give

      away everything I have, and even give up my body to be

      burned-but if I have no love, this does me no good.

New King James Version

      Though I speak with the tongues of men and of angels, but

      have not love, I have become sounding brass or a clanging

      cymbal. And though I have the gift of prophecy, and

      understand all mysteries and all knowledge, and though I have

      all faith, so that I could remove mountains, but have not love,

      I am nothing. And though I bestow all my goods to feed the

      poor, and though I give my body to be burned, but have not

      love, it profits me nothing.

Today‘s English Version

    Love is patient and kind; it is not jealous or conceited or proud;

      love is not ill-mannered or selfish or irritable; love does not

      keep a record of wrongs;  love is not happy with evil, but is

      happy with the truth. Love never gives up; and its faith, hope,

      and patience never fail. Love is eternal. There are inspired

      messages,  but they are temporary; there are gifts of speaking

      in strange tongues, but they will cease; there is knowledge,

      but it  will pass. For our gifts of knowledge and of inspired

      messages are only partial;

      Meanwhile these three remain: faith, hope, and love; and the

      greatest of these is love.

New King James Version

      Love suffers long and is kind; love does not envy; love does

      not parade itself, is not puffed up; does not behave rudely,

      does not seek its own, is not provoked, thinks no evil; does not

      rejoice in iniquity, but rejoices in the truth; bears all things,

      believes all things, hopes all things, endures all things. Love

      never fails. But whether there are prophecies, they will fail;

      whether there are tongues, they will cease; whether there is

      knowledge, it will vanish away. For we know in part and we

      prophesy in part.

      And now abide faith, hope, love, these three; but the greatest

      of these is love.

Today‘s English Version

      And God showed his love for us by sending his only Son into

      the world, so that we might have life through him. This is what

      love is: it is not that we have loved God, but that he loved us

      and sent his Son to be the means by which our sins are

      forgiven.

      Dear friends, if this is how God loved us, then we should love

      one another.

New King James Version

      In this the love of God was manifested toward us, that God has

      sent His only begotten Son into the world, that we might live

      through Him. In this is love, not that we loved God, but that

      He loved us and sent His Son to be the propitiation for our sins.

      Beloved, if God so loved us, we also ought to love one another.
